A Type C continuous 6-inch by 14-gauge steel plate is fastened horizontally across light-gauge metal wall studs to support heavy wall-hung cabinets and equipment. The assembly features sixteen-gauge screw studs, including double studs at openings, with continuous stud flanges. A four-inch by one-and-a-quarter-inch by fourteen-gauge track channel stiffener is welded typically to the continuous plate with a one-eighth-inch fillet weld, and secured with number ten flat head sheet metal screws. The continuous plate provides structural backing for upper cabinets and wall-mounted equipment up to two hundred pounds per foot.
