A diagonal wall brace composed of a 3-5/8 inch by 18 gauge steel stud is installed at forty-five degrees and spaced at eight feet on center. The top of the brace features a clipped flange forming a shoe fastened with four screws into the lowest portion of the corrugated metal deck without penetrating the roofing, or alternatively attached to the bottom chords of the open-web steel joist. The base of the diagonal brace connects to the top track of the non-bearing steel stud wall with four screws secured into the top track flange.
