Back-to-back runner channels are joined with a minimum lap of one foot, fastened with number ten sheet metal screws spaced at three and a half inches with one-inch end clearances. Hanger wires are wrapped at each splice and tied with sixteen-gauge double loops. Furring channels are likewise tied with sixteen-gauge double loops at each splice and supported by hanger wires spaced at one foot four inches typical.
