A suspended gypsum board ceiling assembly features a control joint flanked by main runners and cross furring. The ceiling grid is suspended from the overhead structure using number 9 gauge hanger wires secured with three tight turns in three inches typically. Number 12 gauge bracing wires are tied with three tight turns in one and one-half inches typically, with number 8 by three-quarter inch self-tapping screws used to prevent slippage of the wire ties. Channel bridging aligns across the framing members. The gypsum board is screw-attached to the furring and finished with tape at the control joint.
