Metal studs per wall type terminate at a slip track secured to the underside of a concrete slab on metal deck using powder-actuated fasteners. A one-half inch deflection gap is maintained between the top of the slip track and the concrete slab to accommodate slab deflection. Mineral wool safing is installed within the gap above the track. The wall assembly is finished with five-eighths inch gypsum board on each side, with sealant applied on both sides to resist the passage of smoke.
