A drop soffit assembly is constructed using 5/8-inch gypsum board on 3-5/8-inch metal studs secured to the overhead structure. The vertical framing extends down to form a dropped horizontal soffit plane, with caulk applied at the structural interface. Where columns occur, the face of the wall aligns with the column face. LED light fixtures are integrated into the soffit per electrical drawings, and penetrations for TV poles are caulked and painted to match the surrounding soffit finish.
