A steel column connects to a roof deck assembly utilizing a four-by-four-by-one-quarter-inch angle brace placed at the deck bearing on each side at the top of the column and extending to the nearest joist or beam. A half-inch closure plate caps the assembly, accompanied by typical roof deck attachment to the angle as specified in structural drawings. The angle is secured to the steel column with a three-sixteenths-inch fillet weld.
