This wall assembly consists of metal studs framing a cavity that accommodates insulation where specified. Each side of the partition is finished with two layers of five-eighths-inch Type X gypsum board to achieve a two-hour fire rating. The overall wall thickness measures eight and one-half inches, utilizing six-inch metal studs with five-eighths-inch thick gypsum layers on both faces.
