The stair guard assembly utilizes 1 1/2-inch by 1 1/2-inch by 3/16-inch hollow structural section posts spaced at a maximum of 5 feet on center. The top, grab, and mid-rails consist of 1 1/2-inch outer diameter by .120-inch wall steel tubing. Infill is provided by 1/2-inch diameter round bars spaced at a maximum of 3 7/8 inches clear. A bent 1/4-inch by 2-inch flat bar is incorporated into the assembly. Welds are specified as 3/16-inch typical throughout the connection details.
