A round pipe or duct penetrates a framed gypsum board partition with a maximum one-half inch gap maintained between the gypsum board edge and the penetration. Partition hangers are installed on each side of the partition. An acoustical joint sealant is applied at non-rated partitions, while penetration firestopping is used at fire-rated partitions. Acoustic blanket insulation fills the wall cavity.
