The 1-hour fire-rated assembly utilizes compressed mineral wool insulation to fill the opening, maintaining a maximum joint width of 1/2 inch. The 2-hour fire-rated assembly incorporates mineral wool insulation with a 3-inch attachment spacing and a maximum 1/2-inch opening. Both assemblies face each other across the two-foot partition segment, surfaced with 5/8-inch Type X gypsum board on metal framing.
