Suspended ceiling seismic bracing consists of a vertical compression strut and diagonal hanger wires tied to main runners and cross tees. Twelve-gauge hanger wires are spaced at forty-eight inches on center each way, attached at a maximum of forty-five degrees with a minimum of four tight turns. The vertical compression strut is positioned at four feet on center with shims as needed, utilizing sizing guidelines for conduits or metal studs. Connection hardware includes one-quarter-inch machine bolts attaching to main runners and three-sixteenth-inch diameter power-driven studs securing to the structure. Lighting fixtures and HVAC registers require independent support from a minimum of two hangers at opposite corners.
