A masonry partition wall connects to an overhead concrete floor or roof slab with a gap filled with mineral wool insulation. Alternating four-inch by twelve-inch by three-sixteenths-inch bent steel plates secure each side of the wall at four feet on center using half-inch expansion bolts with two and one-quarter inches of embedment. Spray-applied firestop material is applied to each side with a minimum one-half-inch overlap at the partition and deck. A four-inch minimum to six-inch maximum clearance is maintained to facilitate grouting of the bond beam.
