A cast underlayment or concrete slab supports a finish flooring transition with carpet on one side and tile on the other. A metal floor profile edging acts as a transition strip between the tile and carpet, requiring verification of material heights with the floor finishes. Tile and grout are installed per the finish schedule over the substrate. Carpet is similarly installed per the finish schedule adjacent to the edge profile.
