A C12x20.7 or equal steel stair stringer connects to a concrete slab on grade via a 3x3x5/16-inch angle measuring 6 inches long. The angle is secured to the concrete using a three-quarter-inch diameter expansion bolt, and a quarter-inch fillet weld connects the stringer to the angle. The assembly bears on a 1-foot-6-inch continuous thickened slab footing reinforced with two continuous number 5 rebars, maintaining a 3-inch clear cover. The actual stairs are to be pre-engineered by the steel fabricator with shop drawings provided for review.
