The pavement assembly consists of a three-inch thick asphalt concrete pavement surface course over a ten-inch thick Class II aggregate base. Below the aggregate base, twelve inches of subgrade depth requires scarification and compaction to ninety-five percent relative density at two to three percent above optimum moisture content per ASTM D1557 laboratory test procedures. The final pavement section is determined by an R-value test performed by the soil engineer on the final subgrade.
