A metal pipe or conduit penetrates a concrete masonry unit wall through a galvanized steel sleeve centered in the masonry opening. The annular space between the pipe and the sleeve is tightly packed with mineral wool insulation. Firestop sealant is applied at both sides of the wall at the sleeve interface to maintain the required fire rating equal to UL System Number C-AJ-1498.
