A concrete paving expansion joint detail integrates an embedded six-inch wide steel channel and a one and one-half inch by one and one-half inch angle fastened with Nelson anchor bolts spaced at twenty-four inches on center and six inches from ends. The reinforced concrete section contains number four continuous bars on each side combined with number four bars fifteen inches long at twenty-four inches on center, along with number four bars at twenty-four inches on center. The surrounding surfacing transitions between asphaltic concrete or concrete as occurs over subgrade. Dimensions establish six-inch increments for the joint layout and an eight-inch minimum thickness.
