A 1-1/4 inch standard pipe painted handrail is secured to a wall using a 1-1/2 inch painted steel mounting bracket with three countersunk mounting holes. The bracket is spaced at a maximum of 4 feet on center and within 6 inches of the rail ends. Behind the handrail brackets, a 2x6 wood or metal plate backing is provided within the wood or metal stud wall framing. Gypsum board finish is applied to the wall face.
