A structural steel column is wrapped in spray-applied fire-resistant material and surrounded by metal framing studs to form a box enclosure. Layers of gypsum board face the exterior of the metal framing to create the column finish. Corner beads are installed at the gypsum board corners typically, with optional corner guards added where specified. An adjacent wall assembly ties into the enclosure where indicated.
