An automatic permanent sump pump sits inside a two-foot deep concrete pit finished with crystalline waterproofing and a manufacturer-recommended protective topping at horizontal locations. Hot-dipped galvanized steel grating with a one-and-a-half by one-inch grid rests flush with the bottom of the pit on two-by-two-by-one-eighth-inch galvanized steel support angles. A hoist way divider beam connects to the adjacent concrete wall, which features a waterstop at each below-grade construction joint.
