An 8-inch cold-formed metal stud wall terminates at a junction with a perpendicular 3-5/8-inch metal stud partition. The assembly is finished with layers of 5/8-inch Type X gypsum board and standard 5/8-inch gypsum board to satisfy a 1-hour fire-resistance rated assembly requirement. Batt insulation fills the stud cavities per partition specifications. The framing components are tied together at the panel end to form the furring joint.
