A metal stair assembly ties into a six-inch thick concrete slab at the base using a half-inch thick steel plate secured with two three-quarter-inch diameter Redhead anchors in two-inch long slotted holes, with the nut welded after erection. The connection incorporates a quarter-inch typical fillet weld. Treads feature a one-inch radius nosing and a two-inch wide painted strip in a contrasting color set one inch back from the edge. Exterior stairs not located on pavement sit on a six-inch thick concrete pad, and all exterior treads are finished with a non-slip surface.
