Concrete slabs and walls penetrating pipes and conduits require specific sleeve sizing and minimum spacing to maintain structural integrity. The maximum sleeve diameter is limited to one-third of the slab or wall thickness or two inches, whichever is smaller. Sleeves must maintain a minimum clear spacing of three times the diameter or four inches. Where the required clear distance between sleeves cannot be achieved, the congested area must be detailed and reinforced as a structural opening.
