A pipe passes through a single-ply roofing membrane and a minimum R-30 rigid insulation layer over treated wood blocking as required. A two-pound cone-shaped lead flashing or a galvanized watertight umbrella extends twelve inches minimum above the roof level and wraps into the top of the pipe with a one-inch minimum inset. The flashing cone is fully adhered and sealed to the roofing membrane and wrapped with a membrane transition sheet. Stainless steel clamps secure the top of the umbrella and lead flashing over the pipe, set in a continuous bed of mastic.
