Cold-formed steel track and stud splices connect aligned framing members using a nested reinforcement piece. The track splice consists of a twenty-four-inch minimum length piece of stud nested inside the top or bottom track, extending twelve inches minimum on each side of the joint. Six number six gauge screws are fastened through the flange on each side of the splice minimum. The steel stud splice uses a twenty-four-inch minimum length piece of track nested over the steel stud, extending twelve inches minimum on each side of the joint, fastened with six number six gauge screws through the flange on each side of the splice minimum.
