An isolated acoustic ceiling is suspended from the overhead structure using typical hanger wires, maintaining a one-foot six-inch clearance to the top of the ceiling structure. The overhead assembly consists of six-inch metal studs, four-inch insulation, and two layers of gypsum board. All penetrations through the gypsum board layers are sealed with sealant and appropriate backing material. The acoustic ceiling remains completely isolated with no structural support or bracing tied back to the structure above.
