A non-rated and a one-hour fire-rated partition wall runs parallel to a concrete-filled metal deck. The assembly features a deflection track with two-and-a-half-inch legs secured to each stud with number ten sheet metal screws on both sides. A minimum two-inch wide sixteen gauge metal strap is anchored to the metal deck flute with two powder-actuated Hilti X-U pins per strap end at twenty-four inches on center, overlapping the flute by one and one-half inches minimum. For the fire-rated condition, one-hour rated void forming material and continuous firestop forming spray are applied with fire sealant on both sides. Batt insulation fills the stud cavity, and gypsum board is secured to studs below the deflection track per the wall type schedule.
