A continuous 22-gauge minimum 3-inch deep leg deflection track is anchored to the concrete floor or roof slab at a maximum of 12 inches on center. The gap between the slab and the top of the wall is filled with mineral wool insulation and sealed on each side with spray-applied firestop material maintaining a minimum 1/2-inch overlap at the gypsum board and slab. Gypsum board and studs remain unattached to the deflection track in this area to accommodate vertical movement. A continuous 2-inch wide by 22-gauge metal strap spans the joint, with gypsum board attached to the strap at a maximum of 8 inches on center.
