This non-rated smoke-resistant partition head detail connects a steel stud wall running perpendicular or diagonal to a fluted steel deck with a concrete floor or roof slab. The assembly utilizes a continuous twenty-two gauge minimum three-inch deep leg deflection track attached to the deck at twelve inches on center maximum. Mineral wool insulation and sealant fill the void at the deck flutes, and a continuous two-inch wide by twenty-two gauge metal strap provides top attachment for the gypsum board. Gypsum board and studs remain unattached to the deflection track in the specified zone to allow for structural movement.
