Characters and sign background have a non-glare finish with contrasting colors that must be distinct from the supporting wall. Standard coloring is white text on a blue background unless otherwise approved. Dimensions specify character heights between one hundred thirty-five and one hundred seventy percent of standard height, with three-eighths inch minimum spacing and five-eighths inch to two inch margins.
