A 3-5/8 inch by 18-gauge cold-formed steel stud extends minimum beyond the gypsum board finish. A 6-inch by 14-gauge track is fastened to each stud with four number-10 sheet metal screws, spanning a minimum of three studs. A 2-1/2 inch by 2-1/2 inch by 14-gauge by 5-inch long clip angle secures to the track with three number-10 sheet metal screws. A 2-1/2 inch by 18-gauge stud brace connects to the clip angle with two number-10 sheet metal screws at a maximum span of 9 feet and a maximum angle of 45 degrees.
