The exterior end condition requires a minimum one and a half inch minimum bearing, supplemented by a piece of stud of the same gauge as the joist fastened with four number twelve by three-quarter-inch screws to the joist. The interior condition requires a minimum three and a half inch minimum bearing, utilizing an eight-inch long piece of joist of the same gauge fastened with four number twelve by three-quarter-inch screws.
