Electrical device penetration within a rated shaft wall assembly constructed per UL U415. The wall framing consists of C-H shape metal studs at twenty-four inches on center with full-depth batt insulation and one-inch shaft liner panels. Gypsum board layers are applied over metal stud framing on the exterior side, while the elevator opening assembly is provided by the elevator manufacturer. Box protection is achieved using a one-inch gypsum liner panel across the full width of the opening and a minimum six-by-twelve-inch twenty-five gauge steel strip centered on the device. Additional one-inch gypsum liner box protection is installed behind boxes where face panels are cut and removed.
