This assembly connects a metal stud wall to an overhead mezzanine joist using a sixteen gauge slotted top track. The stud attaches through the slots with number six screws and standoff washers at each stud on both sides. A one-half inch clearance gap is maintained between the track and the framing to allow for structural deflection. Gypsum board clads the metal studs on both faces, secured with two number eight screws at sixteen inches on center.
