An HSS 6x6x1/4 hollow structural section column embeds into a 24-inch square or circular concrete footing with four 1/2-inch diameter by 4-inch long welded studs welded to the tube. The concrete footing extends below the finish slab with a 4-foot depth and a 6-inch clearance from the bottom of the tube to the footing base. A closure plate caps the top of the embedded HSS column with a 3/16-inch fillet weld, supporting an HSS 4x4x1/4 column above. A vertical dimension of 6 feet 0 inches is verified with architectural drawings from the finish slab to the upper column connection.
