A one-hour fire-rated partition head intersects a metal deck perpendicularly, framed with a firetrack shadowline channel and five-eighths-inch Type X gypsum board on each side. A two-inch wide Z-clip secures the assembly beneath the deck flutes. Fire-rated gypsum compound or fire caulk seals the joints at the track. A six-inch wide fire seal with a minimum one-sixteenth-inch dry thickness of sprayed or troweled mineral fill is applied to each side, overlapping the gypsum board by at least one-half inch.
