This wall section details a fire-rated shaft wall assembly at a stair and elevator shaft intersection. An HSS 8x4 hollow structural section spans the shaft opening, framed by 4-inch J-runners. The assembly includes 1-inch shaftwall panels and a 1-inch shaftwall closure on the elevator side, with two layers of 5/8-inch gypsum wallboard on the stair shaft side. A structural steel deck is positioned behind the shaft wall beyond the floor level.
