An interior acoustical partition abuts a concrete column with layers of gypsum wallboard running continuously past the structural element on both sides. Metal studs frame the cavity, which is filled with sound attenuation batt insulation. Acoustical sealant beads seal the joint at the top of the partition against the concrete column face to maintain sound isolation. Gypsum board layers terminate neatly against the column flange while adjacent interior wall assemblies tie into the partition framing.
