Precast concrete pavers with hand-tight swept joints measuring one-sixteenth to one-eighth inch maximum sit on a two-inch sand setting bed. Below the setting bed, rigid insulation accommodates the snow melt system piping and rests upon a five-inch concrete base. The assembly is restrained at the perimeter by a four-and-a-half-inch by four-and-a-half-inch heavy-duty aluminum paver restraint attached to the concrete slab with masonry nails at twelve inches on center minimum. The concrete base bears on a six-inch processed aggregate base featuring one-inch weep holes at low points and four-foot on center, each covered with twelve-inch by twelve-inch squares of filter fabric, all supported by a compacted subgrade. Final depth is coordinated with the snow melt system per mechanical and plumbing drawings, with additional information referenced on drawing 3/MP503.
