A flanged knife plate penetrates an exterior wall assembly featuring brick veneer over an airspace, rigid insulation, a primary weather resistive barrier, and a self-adhered water resistive barrier liner. Liquid applied flashing and backer rod with sealant seal the knife plate penetration at the exterior face. The interior framing supports the knife plate connection with fasteners.
