This plan detail shows hollow structural section columns supporting a lavatory counter assembly. The three-inch by three-inch by one-quarter-inch hollow structural section columns feature one-half-inch cap plates typically at their ends. Three-inch by three-inch by three-eighths-inch base plates secure each column to the composite slab using two one-half-inch diameter expansion anchors with a two-inch embedment depth. Stainless steel cover plates conceal the exposed steel tubes at the ends. Ceramic tile is cut and fitted around the steel tubes adjacent to the wall.
