A structural steel connection utilizes a half-inch connection plate welded to a wide flange column and WT shape sized per plan. Diagonal braces connect to the gusset plate using bolted connections with typical one-inch edge distances. Fillet welds of quarter-inch size are applied on three sides typical around the connection plate joints. A working point is established at the intersection of the framing centerlines.
