A heavy steel connection at column line Y features diagonal and continuous framing members sized per plan. A three-eighths-inch gusset plate connects the diagonal members using five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds. The assembly incorporates a one-half-inch minimum bottom flange plate and a three-eighths-inch minimum top flange plate shaped to match the bottom. Complete joint penetration welds and magnetic particle testing are specified where indicated by callouts.
