A vent pipe penetrates the roof membrane, which is installed per specifications and Factory Mutual FM 90 requirements. A minimum two-and-a-half pound lead flashing sleeve surrounds the vent pipe with its primed flange set into a bed of roof cement. Two stripping plies set in asphalt seal the flange perimeter, extending outward in four-inch increments. The top edge of the lead sleeve is crimped down into the interior of the pipe by a minimum of one inch. Galvanized jacks are explicitly noted as unacceptable. An optional top seal configuration utilizes a two-and-a-half pound lead cap crimped down into the pipe and overlapping the top of the lead sleeve by a minimum of two inches, with a four-pound lead requirement noted specifically for split lead jacks.
