This architectural detail shows the intersection of an elevator or mechanical shaftwall with a fluted metal deck floor or roof assembly. The shaftwall consists of steel C-H studs with sound batt insulation and one-inch type X gypsum board liner panels on the shaft side. Two layers of five-eighths-inch type X gypsum board are applied with acoustical sealant on the exterior side. A steel J-runner secures the assembly below the slab edge, maintaining a one-half to one-inch space as per structural drawings. A control joint is incorporated at the slab intersection.
