A suspended drywall ceiling assembly is braced with a two-and-a-half-inch by twenty-gauge metal stud compression strut spanning to the overhead structure. The main runner consists of a one-and-a-half-inch by sixteen-gauge channel spaced at forty-eight inches on center, supporting seven-eighths-inch by twenty-gauge furring channels spaced at sixteen inches on center. The furring channels are saddle-tied around the main runner using sixteen-gauge wire. A splayed brace wire provides diagonal seismic or lateral bracing at mid-span, secured to the structure with a maximum two-inch offset. The ceiling membrane is finished with five-eighths-inch gypsum board fastened to the framing.
