A forty-two inch high guardrail consists of one and one-half inch vertical steel pipes spaced at six feet zero inches on center maximum, with horizontal pipe rails spaced at five-inch intervals. The vertical post is embedded into a two-inch diameter by twelve-inch long steel pipe sleeve cast into the concrete curb, with number four reinforcing bars at twenty-four inches long at the post on each side. The assembly sits adjacent to a concrete slab with a finished surface and a variable thickness curb.
