An HSS 5x5 brace connects to a structural beam and an embedded plate assembly using a 1-inch thick gusset plate. One-half-inch plates are welded to the top and bottom of the HSS brace with one-quarter-inch fillet welds on three sides typically. The gusset plate ties into a structural beam sized per plan and connects to an embedded 1x12 plate featuring six 1-inch diameter welded studs.
