A fire-rated gypsum board partition terminates alongside a structural steel beam and deck assembly. The gypsum board is cut to conform to the profile of the deck above with a joint seal installed per rated assembly requirements. The partition framing consists of two-and-a-half-inch studs and runners. Continuous two-inch by two-inch by twenty-gauge metal angles are secured to each side of the partition where it meets the structural framing.
